5. Training and Support for Cadets
L-Stream Ltd (LSM) is committed to promoting the professional development of young seafarers.
As a prerequisite for consideration, candidates must be graduates of a three year academic program from a maritime academy. To qualify for acceptance into the cadet program, candidates must pass a rigorous screening and selection process inside of academy and as well in our office. Upon successful completion of this phase, a cadet is then assigned to an L-Stream Ltd (LSM) vessel for first contract to gain shipboard experience as a trainee junior officer.
On board, the master or chief engineer is responsible for the training plan and ensuring the cadet is afforded opportunities to demonstrate and document tasks and competencies achieved.
The positive performance appraisals and an additional period at sea-services are required before even being recommended for the next contract or next position.
